Arthritis

Arthritis is a symptom, not a disease. “Arthritis” means “inflammation of the joints”, for which there can be a number of causes. Drugs treat only the symptom (inflammation).

There are many variations of arthritis. Most involve hidden food allergies. – and if so, then no attempt to heal arthritis can be successful until all of the offending foods are eliminated completely. To the joints, certain foods are poisons. A little bit of a poison is still a poison. Almost any food can be involved, depending on each person’s unique sensitivities. The most common offenders are the nightshade family (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, paprika, eggplant, cayenne, chili, tobacco), milk products, sugar, caffeine (coffee, tea, chocolate, cola drinks), wheat, oranges, corn, soy, and food additives/preservatives. In a study of 5,000 arthritis patients, over 70% reported gradually increasing relief from aches, pains and disfigurement simply by eliminating nightshades from their diets. [Childers, NF J Int Acad Prev Med November 1982, pp. 31-37].

Rheumatoid arthritis is a deeply entrenched form of allergic arthritis. It is an autoimmune disorder in which antibodies attack the cartilage and connective tissue. In addition to hidden food allergies, people with rheumatoid arthritis usually also have weak digestion, low thyroid function, and a “leaky gut” (intestinal permeability).  [See also “Autoimmunity”.]

Osteoarthritis is marked by progressive deterioration of the cartilage in synovial joints and vertebrae. Both weak digestion and hidden allergies are usually involved. Simply by not eating certain foods one may be able to avoid the need for hip or knee replacement surgery. Total elimination of the nightshades over several months often results in gradual improvement. [Childers, NF, Margoles, MS. J Neurol Orthop Med Surg 14:227-31, 1993.]

People with arthritic disorders also tend to have a wide range of nutritional deficiencies. A Nutri-Body® analysis is extremely helpful at determining which unique weaknesses need to be supported.
