Cancer is an imprecise term that describes 200 different kinds of malignant growths, all of which involve the spreading of abnormal tissues. Cancerous cells originate from genetic changes in a single cell, which then clones itself into mutant cells that proliferate out of control.
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in North America. Its warning signs are: (1) change in bowel or bladder habits, (2) sores that do not heal, (3) unusual bleeding or discharge, (4) thickening or lump in breast or elsewhere, (5) indigestion or difficulty in swallowing, (6) obvious change in a wart or mole, (7) nagging cough or hoarseness.
Cancer is a disease of weakened immunity. Cancerous cells are created in every human body from time-to-time. If immune processes are strong, these mutant cells are recognized and destroyed by antibodies. Only if immunity is weak can cancerous cells take over a particular tissue. As immunity becomes progressively weaker, more and more malignant growths may appear in various parts of the body. The nutritional treatment of cancer requires giving the body the raw materials it needs to strengthen its immune processes.
Caffeine and sugar are to be avoided. Caffeine may contribute to the development of tumours. Sugar depresses immune processes by creating a condition of hypoxemia (low oxygen) in the tissues, in which cancerous cells appear to thrive. Sugar also causes excess production of free radicals in the body. Other causes of free radicals to be avoided are polyunsaturated oils, fried foods, hydrogenated fats, nitrates & nitrites in processed meats, drinking chlorinated water or swimming in it, X-rays, and cosmic radiation (from air travel).
Low protein diets are to be avoided. Many people with cancer die not from the disease but from the starvation from too aggressive an attempt to detoxify by severely limiting protein intake. It is impossible to starve cancerous cells without also starving healthy cells. It is very important to maintain an adequate intake of protein. If this is difficult to do from diet alone, then hydrolyzed (pre-digested) protein supplements will be highly beneficial.
Free radicals damage cellular DNA, creating mutant cells which proliferate to form tumours. Almost everyone with cancer also has candidiasis and allergies, both of which may be contributing factors. Some tumours are created by allergic response and disappear when the allergy has been overcome. Allergy to petroleum (and petrochemicals) is often involved and can be corrected by taking homeopathic dilutions of petroleum.
Flaxseed oil, because of its high content of lignans, has anticancer properties. Animals receiving flax or flaxseed oil have demonstrated a greater than 50% reduction in tumours after one to two months.
Most people with cancer also have hypothyroidism as a contributing factor. Do whatever else it takes to maintain body temperature at a normal 37.00C (98.60F) between the hours of 10 AM and 5 PM. The immune system is inefficient at subnormal temperatures.
Immune Support Formula: The following is a formula that fortifies the body’s immune processes against cancer. People who take this formula during chemotherapy characteristically don’t lose any hair. Quantities suggest are for daily intake, to be taken in divided amounts with meals:
Beta Carotene (115,000 IU), Vitamin C (7,000 mg), Calcium (1,700 mg), Iodine (6,400 mcg), dl-Methionine (30 mg), Selenium (260 mcg), N,N-Dimethylglycine (60 mg).
